Academy Newsletter Interview - May 2021

Actress, Dancer and Singer Mia Denae' is a force on stage and set, and is also hilarious in real life! The 13-year old from Las Vegas is creative by nature and shares how she keeps honing her craft of Entertainment.

I love set life and the friends you meet on set! My most noteworthy project was my Nike commercial with Naomi Osaka. It was really cool, because we didn't find out what famous tennis player was coming until that moment. She was really nice and signed tennis balls for everyone. It was a career highlight because Nike also used pictures of me from this project for their end of the year Nike 2020 Highlights commercial Know Your Why. I also had fun on the Nickelodeon show Tooned In... was so fun getting slimed!!
Networking Tip: Just be yourself. Be friendly and be open to meet new people. I have met so many new friends on set and different projects.
Business Advice: Always keep working on [your] craft. Keep working on it with workshops and casting director classes. You have to be ready for when your preparation meets that big opportunity!
I always try to get the background information [on a character]. You really need to know where the character comes from. When people see you are being yourself and really getting into character, they will remember the hard work you did!
